An orphan girl plays matchmaker to a
flight attendant and lonely zoo keeper.

Synopsis:
“Owl and the Sparrow” is a tiny tale, as gentle as the little girl who searches for a family she
can call her own. Ten-year-old Thuy is down on her luck. So she runs away from her uncle’s
bamboo factory, where her work is never good enough, to the big city. A flower girl on the
streets of Saigon, she discovers two other castaway hearts, a man who takes refuge as a
zookeeper and a flight attendant who’s looking for love. This is another example of a great
low-budget American Independent Film.

Director Stephane Gauger named in
Filmmaker Magazine's "25 NEW FACES OF
INDEPENDENT FILM Filmmaker's annual survey of new talent."

Critical Praise:
Combining arthouse lensing with a sweet story sure to make audiences feel warm inside...
Stephane Gauger comes up with an appealing balancing act to please cinephiles and
mainstreamers alike.  -
Variety

Refreshingly simple and tremendously resonant. - LA Weekly

A captivating performance by 10-year old newcomer Pham Thi Han. - Hollywood Reporter

A tender love story about three lonely souls who find one another above the din of modern-
day Saigon... with Gauger's lovely script and amazing cast, the film floats in its own
wondrous ether.
- Austin Chronicle

Four stars. Gauger lucked out with the actors. They’re all excellent. But the actors lucked out
too: Gauger gives them honest things to say, and while they’re all struggling, we never get
the sense that their economic fate determines who they are as people. It’s a lovely
achievement. -
